The Drainfield Garden has become one of the nicest surprises. Underneath all these glorious perennials which are mostly natives and ones that enjoy sufficient moisture, are tiny spring blooming bulbs that didn't need to be planted deeply! It's a wonderful 'marriage'! Now that many of the native perennials are in bloom, the butterflies abound! This is a treasure of a garden! | Just past the Drainfield Garden is the Rock Garden which is 'in the process'. But even at this stage, there are some wonderful eye-catching areas like the Perovskia 'Little Spire' right on the right of center on this image! There is a walking path which takes you up on top of the Rock Garden, giving the opportunity for a visual overview of the entire 10 acre garden! |

Other areas of interest in our 'Chesapeake Bay Friendly Teaching Garden' is one of many 'garden pods' - little vignettes with several small flowering trees (in this case, Crepe Myrtle) with Lilies and Cannas. It's a lovely spot! | One of the outdoor sales areas is FILLED with pre-potted and growing Dahlias, Lilies, Caladiums and many perennails and annuals ready to drop in your garden. One could have an 'Instant Garden' very easily with what is under the shade tent! |

Right outside the Bulb Shoppe, is its small Tropical Greenhouse where pots of the large tropical 'elephant ears' are waiting for you. Outside the Tropical Greenhouse, is an area where many of the sun-loving bulbs and perennials are potted, pre-grown, some blooming, waiting for you to take home. | The Summer Catalogue Garden is coming up and blooming. This is where you can decide what you want in your garden next summer. We also have a trial area where we get you to vote on the new items we are trialing. Come and give us your opinion! |

Standing near the house, looking towards the barn, is the garden from another angle. Close up you can see the Dahlias, Zantedeschia, and Lilies. Gladiolus and Cannas are in the background. There are so many plants living and thriving happily together! We'd love to show it to you on one of our garden tours! | Denise, our daughter-in-law, manager of the Bulb Shoppe and our Education Coordinator, is giving a tour of a group of school children. When they are here, she teaches them the parts of the plant and it's purpose. She also talks about soil and how to help keep it healthy. One is never too young to begin learning to be good stewards of our earth! |
