Spring/Fall 2009 > Bulbs > Genus List > Lilium > Liliaceae[Printer Friendly Version]

Garden Party-(Oriental) enough yellow to stand out in a crowd an when you're up close, you can see the raspberry frecklesand stamens which is quite a contrast! Lovely!

PLEASE NOTE: THESE ARE HARVESTED LATE AND THEREFORE WILL NOT ARRIVE HERE UNTIL OCTORER! The most adored bulb group in the summer garden, it offers almost as many color variations as the tulip and is also a great cut flower. Many forms, sizes, heights, bloom times as well as color are available. Some upfacing, downfacing and outfacing; planted in the same bed as daffodils and tulips, they extend the spring blooming season into summer; they thrive in full sun as well as in partial shade and in well-drained soil; Asiatics tend to bloom early summer and Orientals bloom later in the summer; excellent perennial bargain! (16/+cm bulbs unless otherwise notes); 2-3 per sq. ft; 2'-3'; zones 3-10; (Hint: When using lilies as cut flowers, snip off the anthers at the end of the stamens as they may stain tablecloths and clothing.)
