Description
Tulip Cosmopolitan is a mid-spring blooming Darwin Hybrid tulip bulb that is a sure show stopper in the garden with bright flowers and purple streaked leaves. Tulip Cosmopolitan not only forces well, is very reliable, has long-lasting flowers and is considered a long term perennial, but it also exhibits the strength, durability and longevity of the others in this Darwin Hybrid group. Like all tulipa, tulip bulbs are from the Liliaceae family. This fall planted tulip bulb requires full sun and average soil. Tulip Cosmopolitan blooms 18"-22" tall and is good for winter hardiness zones 3-9. Tulips are incredibly diverse, and will enrich any flower garden situation.

The peacocks and parrots of the bulb world, tulips offer are more sizes, shapes and colors than you can imagine for any type of garden design scheme. Divided into 15 divisions usually depending on shape, bloom time or heritage.Plant 4x their height deep (8"-10" for regular sized tulips; 4"-6" for small tulips); 12+cm bulbs unless otherwise noted. DARWIN HYBRID TULIPS are defined by the RGBA as: "Single flowered cultivars, long stemmed, midseason flowering. Originally the result of hybridization between cultivars of the darwin group with Tulip fosteriana and the result of hybridization between other cultivars and botanical tulips, which have the same habit and in which the wild plant is not evident." Best for perennial bedding, cut flowers and companion planting with other bulbs, perennials and annuals; big and bold, the 'gentle giants of the garden'. Mid spring bloomers that force well; very reliable, long lasting flowers; we regard this as the 'longest term perennial' tulip group; whz 3-9; mid spring.
